The electric mobility (that doesn’t grow) starts from small cities and urban districts
Mobility grows with technology and its revolutions, that have characterized the history. We are living now the last mobility revolution, certainly the most complex and ambitious: we are in the time of innovative technologies convergence, to transform mobility in environmentally friendly, safe and sustainable. The economical situation, the crisis and market stagnation are the first brakes on the development of sustainable mobility. There is also the problem to change the mentality and the lifestyle of citizens, that every day travel, for work or pleasure, generating pollution and traffic congestion as the goods transport, especially in urban areas. Politics, lobbies, part of the press and even the national Italian car brand seems to
make slowly the eco mobility process that, in mean time in all European countries, grows with percentages that Italy even imagine. Many local authorities, supported by some automotive brand and very few companies, fortunately are able to do some miracles, intercepting European funds available, developing the best practices strategy and testing new mobility items. People say: “public transport doesn’t work, then I use my car to go to the office” or “electric cars are too expensive and where I can recharge them?” or “I deliver the goods in the city center only in the authorized time period, so I continue to use my old truck, no one control my gas”.There are all commonplaces and easy
judgments to which we know very well. We need instead to try to use another kind of analysis: we need to understand, for example, how does the City of Alba (CN), thanks to his partner “Stirano” company part of the EGEA Group, to reduce to his itizens 6% of local garbage taxation, only using 10 new electric vehicles (NEV) dedicated to urban cleaning street services. We can ask in addition why the percentage of ecologic taxis in Italy is very high (practically 80% in some main cities) and in mean time all Italian ecological cars don’t reach 10%. We have to ask people that already use an electric delivery truck or van into city if they have problems with electric autonomy and why they don’t use the charging stations and urban columns.
